Moonrise Kingdom (2012)
[Cinema]
Despite some sweet and charming content, like other Wes Anderson films, this feels detached. But once again it’s beautifully and painstakingly well constructed.

Speed Racer (2008)
[SD Streaming]
This is far less enjoyable on a smaller screen and it’s dated astoundingly quickly. There are some painfully unfunny attempts at humour (especially with the child and the chimp), but some people seem to forget this is a Hollywood update of a children’s Japanese cartoon from the 60’s. At the end of the day though, some genuinely dazzling race-car fantasy action make this totally undeserving of its negative response.

Where the Wild Things Are (2009)
[SD Streaming]
An adult film about children. A mature melancholy tone and a strange childish logic to the plot make this film brilliant but difficult to feel strongly about.

Eden Lake (2008)

If you can ignore the highly questionable class politics, then this grueling tense thriller is probably the best British horror since The Descent.

Tales of the Night [3D] (2011)
[subbed]
[Cinema]
Simple and pretty. It feels like a series of short educational children’s animations though, and I think it would work better that way.

There’s Something About Mary (1998)
[SD TV]
I still think it’s one of the funniest silly comedies I’ve ever seen.

The Invasion (2007)
[SD Streaming]
Awkward, tedious, and silly. Possible underlying political ideology made me uncomfortable too.

Primer (2004)
[SD Streaming]
Complicated to distraction while elements of production, such as awkward over-dubbing, make this feel cheap (not as cheap as it was though). However it’s smart (too smart for it’s own good) and the low-rent realism works very well.

Legend of the Millennium Dragon (2011)
[subbed]
[SD Streaming]
Some good quality computer enhanced cell animation and a basic, but still interesting, story is let down but some awful music and mixed pacing, resulting in a rushed ridiculous climax.

Invictus (2009)
[SD Streaming]
Reasonable well made but annoying forced sentiment makes it difficult to enjoy on any level.
